Bio:
Much of what troubles us in the way of unwanted feelings and thoughts — and behaviors — can be linked to adverse, even traumatic, experiences. Feeling anxious too much of the time, excessively sad, being unable to stop thinking about certain things, having bad memories intrude during our waking hours and during sleep, can all be problems. Feeling the need to isolate oneself, to repeat behaviors way past what is necessary, all are signs that getting help is a prudent step for you to take. About one in four adults experiences significant emotional or behavioral problems. Please know help is available.A big obstacle to getting therapy is the notion that “just talking” about problems could not really be helpful. That notion is incorrect. Therapy is not just random talking. A century of clinical experience and mountains of research show how effective good therapy from a trained and caring therapist can be. We can’t change what happened to us; we can heal.A first session has goals for client and therapist. Most importantly, you’re seeking a therapist who can help. For my part, it’s important to learn if what you’re experiencing, and what you hope to accomplish in therapy, align with my training and skills. Getting therapy was vitally important to my health. I hope it will be for yours!
